This is my Sweet Evil book review. It is the first book of the Sweet series. The series is written by Wendy Higgins.
Sixteen years ago, a baby was born, her mother died and her father went to jail.
Today, a little before her sixteenth birthday, Anna goes to a local bands play with her best friend, Jay. Jay loves music and writes songs with a friend. They go to the bands play not only because Lascivious, a new band he likes, is there playing, but also to give to the band’s manager their songs.
They’re dancing and having fun, but Anna is attracted to Lascivious’s drummer, Kaidan. When the boys go to give their songs to the manager, Anna and Kaidan have a little talk. Well, he may be hott – yes with two t’s – but he’s not the most amiable person out there. Overconfidence is not so good, right?
A few days later Anna and Jay go to a lake house party a classmate has. Scott has invited her and she likes him a little. Pretty much everyone is going so why not? Jay finds his crush here, so she goes over to her and Anna gets herself into a shady situation with Scott. Kaidan is there, though, and he helps her. Moreover, he seems to know why there are things she can do that no normal person is able to.
She tells Patti, her adopted mother that she met someone like her. Patti, however, knew more than she told her so far. She tells her that her mother was an angel and her father is a demon, a fallen angel. The nun who gave Anna to her many years ago told her this and told her to let Anna come to her when the time is right.
Anna can’t wait to go to her. But they have to save money for a while and Kaidan is closer to the answers she needs.
She goes to his house to talk to him, but his father is there. Why the hell was she even here? It would be better if the demons didn’t know about her existence.
Kaidan drives her to her house. Patti is there crying and tells Anna that she has to use the money she saved up for the trip for a car problem. That when Kaidan offers to drive them to their destination. Patti can’t leave her job right now, though. So Kaidan and Anna have to go alone.
As they get closer, they have to fight their feelings and stay alive…
I think I’ll choose Kaidan. Anna is very sweet. But it is her nature. Kaidan wants to be decent despite his nature and the danger to his life. I cannot but admire him for this.
Why I love this book
- For the story. And probably for the morals behind this. I think that it’s very difficult to do the right thing in any case. I can’t imagine how bad it would be if we would have to fight our nature.
- It’s very realistic, even if that means that some things I wouldn’t want to happen, happen.
- It has some mature scenes, so if they’re not your cup of tea, don’t read this!
- I have to tell you something. Well, I don’t have to, I just want to. I couldn’t remember the trilogy’s name, so I searched for it. And I just found out there’s a fourth book!
I think it’s the story from another POV but first, I love different POVs and second, it could have some extra content!!!
